Obituary for our Dr. Gary Pennebaker
Dr. Gary Pennebaker, 66, left us on November, 23, 2014.
- Gary was always up for an adventure...
Gary was born January 4, 1948, in Lenox, Iowa to Dr. Roland and Dr. Dorothy Pennebaker. He graduated from Creston High School and attended Southwestern in Creston before requesting to be drafted into the army and serving our country in the Vietnam War as a Green Beret.
After the war, he followed in his parents and grandfathers footsteps by attending Palmer School of Chiropractic in Davenport, IA. He, his wife (Laurel), and daughter (Michelle), moved to Eden Prairie, MN where Gary set up his practice.
His chiropractic clinic flourished because of his skills, beliefs and healing abilities. Daily, he carried out the quote from BJ Palmer, the developer of Chiropractic, who said You have been given a Sacred Trust, Guard it well.
He traveled around the country serving on State and National Chiropractic Boards as well as spending many years directing and supporting the Gonstead Foundation. He was a community leader and most of all, he loved his family. He could always be found coaching a team or supporting family members in many different ways.
Gary is survived by his wife, Laurel; his children: Michelle Hines (Danny) from Ohio, Bradford James Pennebaker (Kiayanna) from California, Elizabeth Pennebaker from Arizona, Dr. Stacy McNeil (Dr. Ian) from Minnesota; grandchildren: Brittany Hines, Courtney Hines, Zakary Hines, Lauryn McNeil, Austin McNeil, Paige McNeil, Natalie McNeil; father: Dr. George Roland Pennebaker (Mary Lou); sisters: Glennda Adair, Gayla Buckman (Darren), Holly Smith (Eric), Meredith Greene; nieces: Heather Tolbert (Vaughn), Stephanie Buckman, Melinda Morgane; (and scores of beloved extended family and friends).

Memo: Gary Pennebaker
Dont grieve for me now, Im free Im following the path God laid for me. I took His hand when I heard Him call
I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day To laugh, to love, to work or play. Tasks left undone must stay that way Ive found my peace at the close of day.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief Dont lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your heart and share with me. God wanted me now, He set me free.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to all those who have supported us during this time of loss.
Gary was always up for an adventure and he left this one last adventure for you to enjoy.
